BQ Launches Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition Phone For €199.90

You must have all heard of Ubuntu OS. BQ Aquaris E5 HD is the second Ubuntu OS powered phone by BQ.



This is a partnership between the Canonical and BQ. In February this year, BQ launched Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu OS powered phone and was the first phone to run Ubuntu OS, an alternative to Android and IOS.

This new BQ Aquaris E5 has an impressive 5-inch IPS HD, 720 x 1280 pixels display. It is powered by 1.3Ghz Quad-core Cortex A7 processor Mediatek chipset. This phone comes in inbuilt memory of 16GB with 1GB RAM. It features a 13MP, dual flash, BSI sensor and capable of Full HD video recording (1080p) and a front facing camera of 5MP.




BQ Aquaris E5 comes in fully locked with Dual-SIM functionality. According to Alberto Mendez, CEO of BQ, "We have designed the BQ-Canonical collaboration as a long term project. Our next objective, which in Ubuntu and the philosophy behind it.". "Working with Canonical on bringing the Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition has been very satisfying. We share the same philosophy as them along with the same commitment to the open source Initiative. At BQ, our goal is to help people understand technology, encourage them to use it and inspire them to create it. That's why the opportunity for creation that Ubuntu affords is fundamentally important to us" says Alberto Mendez.

BQ Aquaris E5 will be launched in Europe and the device will be available for purchase from mid-June, across the entire European Union from the BQ online store for 199.90 .
